Umdoni Park
Established by Sir Frank Reynolds in 1920 to preserve the indigenous fauna and flora in our area. The park offers wonderful walks, excellent birding, and together with the Komba Bird Sanctuary and Nkumbane Dam, the park is perfect for those wanting to appreciate the abundance of plant life in the area. Guided walks are conducted through the Nature Reserve. Tel. 039 975 1679
Empisini Nature Reserve
This Wild Life Society Nature Reserve is situated on the outskirts of Umkomaas with picnic and braai facilities alongside the stream for day visitors. Next to the entrance of the reserve is an expanse of marshland consisting of a dense stand of Phragmite reeds and nearer to the picnic site, lies a lovely natural wetland. Mammals to be found at Empisini Nature Reserve include Monkeys, Mongoose, Bush-buck, Blue-duiker, Otter, Bushpig and several species of bats. This 60 ha reserve contains 25ha of pristine coastal forest and 35 ha of grasslands, reclaimed from cane-fields. Contact (039) 9730093
THE SEZELA SUGAR MILL

FISHERMEN’S INFORMATION
- Sea fishing can be enjoyed off the Scottburgh rocks and Rocky Bay Pier, Anderson’s bay at Park Rynie and at the gully at Park Rynie, Clansthal, Umkomaas river mouth and rocks. A license must be obtained for mussels, oysters and certain types of bait. This is obtainable at the general Post Office.
- Bass fishing can be enjoyed at the Nkombati Dam, which boasts large-mouth black bass of record size; also at Tuckers near Bazley. Contact 082-3038725
HORSE RIDING
