There are four excellent golf courses, in the surrounding areas, as well as bowling greens, squash courts, scuba diving and rock fishing. The T C Robertson Nature Reserve is only 200m from our doorstep and Pearly Shells is in close proximity to scenic drives and places of interest all along our beautiful South Coast, an easy drive from Scottburgh.
The Wild Coast is just over 1 hours drive away from Scottburgh. Oribi Gorge is a “must” to visit, as a pleasant one-day trip.

A swimming pool, braai area & leisure room for the use of guests at Pearly Shells. The leisure room offers table tennis, a pool table, other games and a large screen TV for popular sport events, where “non-beach days” and evenings can be spent at Pearly Shells. There is also a jungle gym for our younger guests to enjoy themselves.
All these facilities are on our premises and are for the exclusive use of Pearly Shells families.
With the holiday season upon us, one and all are flocking to the seashore. Lazing on the beach, paddling in the shore break, catching a wave or whatever takes your fancy – going to the beach is very much a part of the holiday break. Please make safety at the beach a priority –
- Always swim at beaches offering the protection of shark nets.
- Obey instructions from the Lifeguards and swim between the beacons.
- Do not swim at dawn and dusk – this is when sharks are more active and come inshore to feed.
- Alcohol and swimming don’t mix.
- Don’t swim in dirty water or river mouth’s.
- Don’t swim with an open sore – sharks can detect blood in the water.
- Never swim alone.
- Beware of sunburn and use sunscreen protection – those sun rays can do harm.
- Do not swim immediately after consuming a big meal – wait a while.
- Speak to local surfers, divers and fisherman, they will know where the rip tides and other dangers are in the area.
